The National Association of Realtors released statistical information about the membership recently. So I thought it might be interesting to share who we are as practitioners. You might be surprised. The truth is Realtors are everyone. Realtors are probably one of the most diverse group of professionals. So here is some of what they found about us.
Of all Realtors, roughly 2/3 are agents, about 1/3 of us are brokers, either associate or principal.
On average, your Realtor has 10 years of experience, down from 12 last year. Note: I find this as a positive sign. To me it indicates younger people are joining the profession.
If 6 Realtors were in a room, 1 of them would have a personal assistant.
Half of Realtors have had a website for more than a decade. 1 in 10 have a blog. 7 in 10 participate in social media.
The average Realtor is 53 years old.
38% of Realtors are male, 62% are female.
8 in 10 Realtors own their own home.
8 in 10 Realtors plan to remain in the business.
7 in 10 Realtors have only one occupation.
4 in 100 Realtors chose real estate as their first career.
The truth of the matter is the Realtor tent is a big tent. If you have interest in a career of unlimited income potential, you are 18 years old and have a high school degree or equivalency, then you may be able to take the first step and become a real estate licensee in Virginia.
